Literacy Vs Educated.

I realy feel, both are quite different things. You can ask why, keep on asking, and i wont answer. There is on common phrase used in india "padha likha ganwar", which is most often used for people like us. Literaly it means 'literate fools'. Indian government since long time is trying to make every indian literate, but i think their vision is bit piped. What will they achieve by teaching logarithms, geometry, by the way it is given in our textbooks, a child of a farmer whith the kind of enviorment given in most of the cases will not want to be too big guy. The vision he have is that of much bigger land and let me tell you that Log2 is not going to help him in any case. For this very same reason we in india have one of the highest dropout rate in primary education worldwide. Now come on education part, its not making them masters its about teaching them how to avoid being fools. Let us not teach them how our president or for that matter governor is elected, lets tell them that if you need the information regarding president election login to that site and you will get the information. Now this is educating them, rather say, empowering them. Give them resources for basic literacy, and then empower them to retrive the information from the system. Create the system for that. In this way we will incourage people to get educated and who knows few of them might take the path of literacy.
In this case we will not be wasting our money and energy on unwanted matter, but only on selected few.
